Karen Schaver and Paul Griffin are our amazing guests today.
Karen Schaver runs Orphan Dog Rescue in beautiful Lake County, California. She talks with us about her goal to bring as many dogs to the Bay Area Pet Fair this weekend, with the hope of clearing out the shelters.
Paul Griffin is an accomplished author, with his newest children’s book, Saving Marty, launching on Tuesday, September 19. He is also a first-time father, with his adopted and musically talented teenage daughter, Ani. He shares about the book and his incredible journey with Ani.
Orphan Dog Rescue
Orphan Dog Ranch now homes an average of 250 dogs every year that are rescued from Northern California and high-kill shelters in Southern California and other overpopulated shelters. Karen and her devoted team of dedicated volunteers drive 2 hours each way, every Saturday, to set up adoption events in Petaluma, Novato, and San Rafael as well as other Bay Area locations.
Thank you Karen!
Eleven-year-old Lorenzo Ventura knows heroes are rare—like his father, who died in the war, or his friend Paloma Lee, who fearlessly pursues her dream of being a famous musician. Renzo would never describe himself as a hero, but his chance comes when he adopts Marty, a runt piglet.
Thank you Paul!

“Ag-Gag” is a type of law that prohibits taking undercover video of agricultural facilities, such as factory farms, even in cases of animal abuse.
The movie “Baraka,” directed by Ron Fricke, contains a famous segment weaving together scenes from a chicken factory farm with a busy subway in Asia. Content is graphic.
Harold and Nancy will be at the Bay Area Pet Fair conducting interviews! Make sure to visit our booth and say hello.
